Its a pleasant afternoon in October, and with the leaves all turning colors in ways we've never seen, it's difficult to contain our admiration for autumn on the Eastern side. Our fluffy trees line the river that cuts through town. The colors are so vibrant and variegated that the mountains around us seem fit for a jigsaw puzzle scene.
Its a perfect day for playing hookey.
On this day meandering through the neighborhood we discovered a large park 1/3 of a mile away from our home. Little leaguers ran around the softball field and little tykes crawled over the playground. Later we discovered that the complex also includes a skate park, pool, and rec center where monthly contra dances (the regional social dance) are held.
